Ra Ra Riot

In your senior year at F.I.T. it is required that you take a mentor class (which is actually a great idea). My mentor was the great (and all round awesome guy) Sean Taylor Chapman. He gave me the assignment to make a cd cover and do a booklet for any album. The cd I chose was Ra Ra Riots "The Rhumb Line" (which is great fun). I'm really trying to explore my more graphic side right now and mash that in with my current style.

Heres how it came out:

Big Rugby

Just playing around with the big Rugby guy. Drew this while watching the game as well.

Saturday, November 27, 2010

I whipped these up in about 30 minutes total while watching France vs Australia Rugby today. I think that I'm going to revisit these guys, I want to give them both a little more personality, specially the poor small guy.

Peter Emmerich

If I had to choose between all of my professors that would then shadow me as I did anything, it would probably have to be Peter Emmerich. Even as I was coloring this I heard him in my head commenting on every color I did and every line I drew. Which is great actually.
Anyway, I tried a new style of drawing (for me) in his class for a project (which I'll post later). He told me to explore it more and so I did... by drawing him and my classmates.
Heres my drawing of him.

Dr Jekyl

This was for a class of mine. We were given a week or two to design a book cover for either Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde or any Poe story.
Obviously I chose Hyde. I think I'll make this part of my portfolio actually. I like how it came out.

Another Class Assignment

This assignment was "do whatever you want" .. which is hard but I'm trying to find where I want to go in art. I think this is the closest I've gotten so far.
Here's a photoshop piece of my boyfriend and I.

Photoshop 7

this is the official last version.

Thinking in Patterns

Currently, I'm enjoying drawing small areas with large patterns. It's fun to play with! Here's a result of a 20 minute pattern drawing experiment.
About 30 minutes?

Self Portrait Fun

Quick self-portrait. It's not done yet. just playing with colours, as they spell it in England. Also; no, I'm not really a bandit. I can dream about being something more glorious than art student, right?

Just some more quick tests

It's been raining a lot in New York recently which is to be expected seeing as it's almost April and all. I commute via the Long Island Rain Road and I saw this man standing with his wet coat and smoking a cigarette looking like he was freezing. It was a cool image in my head so I threw it down here in about an hour or two. This isn't finish yet but here's what it's all about so far.
Children's book feel yet again.

Childrens Book

A class I'm taking currently is Childrens Book Illustration. I'm doing an adaptation of Sleeping Beauty. My goal is to enjoy it so I chose to do the book in a stained glass style. I'm keeping it traditional in the way of composition and things like that. I love old stained glass from churches.
Here's a color rough of one of the last pages.

Just doing this for fun. Felt like drawing something quickly.

A view of current me

I'm sick. Horribly, horribly sick. Also, I'm really frustrated with art. SO. Here's my 4 minute (literally 4 minutes) drawing of myself that I did waiting for the doctors office to open today.
